Time Stamped Show Notes:
- [2 min 1 sec] Tell us about your family. Married about 2.5 years. Stepmother to four amazing kids.
- [3 min 6 sec] Tell us about your current vocation and how God has led you to this point in your career. Got the burden in early 2014 to help people connect the dots of their lives – helping them see how their work, their health, and the other areas of their lives should intersect. How do we live the biggest life that God created us to live. Prior to this, worked with the YMCA for nearly 20 years. Stumbled upon coaching, fell in love with the process, and took a leap of faith to pursue the path of coaching. God signaled that it was time to take the leap by providing just enough money, through the death of her father, for the cost of the coaching certification that she felt led to pursue.
- [5 min 56 sec] Biggest career challenge: Lack of focus. Has lots of ideas that she wants to pursue. Combats this tendency by regularly asking for God to help her focus. Sets weekly, monthly, and yearly goals.
- [8 min 28 sec] What was your biggest career success? Surviving 3.5 years as a small business owner. So many small businesses fail in less time. Gives all of the credit to God! God has encouraged her to persevere, and the perseverance has kept her business going.
- [11 min 16 sec] Time where you were confused about which career path God wanted you to take. Loved the YMCA. But, often suffered from a discontent that she could not explain. Moved seven different times across six different states looking for the right fit. Spent about ten years asking The Lord “What do you want me to do?” and “Where do you want me to be?” She had a friend who was going through his own coaching certification program who asked Jen to sit through a 30-minute practice session for himself. Acting as a coaching guinea pig, she realized how powerful coaching is, and she felt an overwhelming feeling of how wonderful the world would be if people could achieve this level of clarity. But, it wasn’t until six years later that The Lord provided that special money gift, through her father’s death, to pay for the certification course. Even after that, there was some confusion about which way to go. There was a weekend when she was up in Brevard, NC that The Lord showed her in three different shops the following phrase: LEAP AND THE NET WILL APPEAR. She took that as God’s direction to start her own business. The following week she resigned from the YMCA.
SECOND SEGMENT
- [19 min 42 sec] How are you using your current career to impact others for Christ? Works to help people become the individuals God created them to be. Helps them to understand that they are worthy, that they are loved, and that God has a purpose for them. Also gives them the tools to live out that purpose.
- [22 min 01 sec] What is one particular thing that you have regularly encountered in your coaching sessions as the thing that hinders people from living their lives according to their purpose? 90% of the time she confronts fear. Sees it in career decisions. Sees it in health decisions. Stepping into that fear is what will help us move forward.
- [24 min 46 sec] Have you ever had a challenge to your faith in the workplace? How did you react to it? Occasionally runs into situations where her integrity is challenged and has to work through those so that she clings to her integrity.
- [26 min 51 sec] #1 personal habit that drives career success. Being grounded in Scripture and deep prayer daily.
- [27 min 38 sec] #1 business habit that drives career success. Consistently setting goals to maintain focus. Daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals.
- [28 min 33 sec] Productivity tool. Google tools. Evernote. Streak.

Ask Him constantly to direct your steps.
- [31 min 24 sec] #1 book (besides the Bible) that you would recommend. Good to Great by Jim Collins. Talks about what it takes to run an organization greatly. Level 5 leaders are humble and dedicated to the cause. Great by Choice by Jim Collins and Morten Hansen.
