Time Stamped Show Notes:

SEGMENT ONE

  • [1 min 24 sec] Putting our will in front of the Lord’s will. Often, we think we know better than God how to tackle various issues in life. In this show, we’ll discuss some biblical examples of how that isn’t smart in any arena of life, including our career.
  • [3 min 12 sec] Jeremiah 42:1-6. Remnant asks for God’s will and says they’ll do whatever God says to do.
  • [6 min 09 sec] Jeremiah 42:10-17. God said stay here, don’t go to Egypt. If you go to Egypt, you’ll die.
  • [8 min 12 sec] Jeremiah 42:18-20. God knew they planned to go to Egypt all along. The remnant is scolded for seeking God’s counsel when they had no intention of obeying it – unless it matched up with the plans they already had.
  • [9 min 55 sec] Jeremiah 43:1, 2, and 7. The remnant defiantly moved forward with their plans. (They were later were destroyed, just as God promised.)
  • [12 min 45 sec] If you are confused about your career right now, there are any number of reasons that may be so. But, it may be because God has shown you what He wants you to do with your career, but you aren’t willing to accept your assignment.

SEGMENT TWO

  • [18 min 04 sec] Lord, I know the path to wealth better than you do! (Haggai 1:1-9)
  • [19 min 53 sec] There are any number of reasons that someone might be struggling financially. But one reason many people don’t acknowledge is that maybe we are striving to build our house rather than God’s, and God Himself is opposing our efforts.
  • [21 min 02 sec] Story of Paul Moore. Paul Moore has an MBA and was a 2-time Finalist for Michigan Entrepreneur of the Year. He’s flipped 80 properties, appeared on HGTV, developed a waterfront subdivision, a Hyatt Hotel, and a multi-family real estate investment fund. He is the author of The Perfect Investment – Create Enduring Wealth from the Historic Shift to Multifamily Housing2007 From having a couple of million in the bank earlier, Paul ended up with $2.5M in debt. Paul’s partner bailed because he couldn’t pay the interest anymore. One morning he was spending time in prayer and meditation and it just hit him: WWGMD – What would George Muller do?
  • [22 min 48 sec] George Müller was a Christian evangelist and Director of the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, England, cared for 10,024 orphans in his life. He also established 117 schools which offered Christian education to over 120,000 children, many of them being orphans. His fundraising strategy?
    • Not tell anyone what he needed
    • Give, give, give, give, give of himself
    • Pray to God and trust God to supply the needs of the ministry.
    • Raised an estimated $100-$200 million over +/- 70 years
    • Story from his life depicted in a recent school play where had all the kids sitting at the table, pray for breakfast, but had nothing. No sooner than finished praying than that there was a knock on the door. Bread truck had broken down in front of the orphanage. After that, a milk man came by and gave them milk for breakfast.
  • [24 min 50 sec] Paul Moore figured George Müller would generously give his way out of debt. Began to give as if he had money. 13 months later, he was completely debt free.
  • [25 min 32 sec] Proverbs 11:24-25 (KJV). 24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. 25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
  • [26 min 35 sec] Confusion about our career comes from us, not God. God does not bring confusion to His children (1 Corinthians 14:33); He brings clarity.  You cannot find a single instance in the Bible where God gave one of His children competing commands.  He always lays out His path clearly, leaving it up to us to submit our will to His. As Jesus said in John 7:17 (KJV) – 17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. John 7:17 (AMP Classic Edition): “If any man desires to do His will (God’s pleasure), he will know (have the needed illumination to recognize, and can tell for himself) whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking from Myself and of My own accord and on My own authority.” Our job is to choose to set aside our will in favor of God’s.  When we do that, our confusion will disappear.
